Imo Peace corps Commander-General urges parents to inculcate peace culture into children.…marks 2024 United Nation Peace Day.By Kelechi Ugo.
The Director-General/Commander-General of Imo State Peace Corps and Deputy Country President UN-POLAC Foundation in Nigeria,Amb. Engr. Peter C.Ohagwa has urged parents to always cultivate culture of peace in their children.
Speaking to newsmen on Saturday 21st September,2024 during the United Nations Day of Peace anniversary,Amb. Ohagwa insisted that the idea and peace culture should be inculcated in the minds of our children and communities through formal and informal education.
He recalled that they have embarked upon peace sensitization across secondary and tertiary education in Nigeria.
According to him,”the International Day of Peace has always been observed as a time to lay down weapons and observe ceasefire. I therefore call on the National Association of Nigerian Students,NANS allegedly planning for nationwide protest over the petrol price hike to shun the idea and dialogue with the Federal Government so as to urgently prefer solutions.
Let me use this medium to equally call on Federal Government to look inward and tackle the hardship through which the incessant fuel hike imposed on the citizens.
On the area of insecurity in Imo State,I commend the Executive Governor of Imo State,His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma and security agencies for their tireless efforts for fighting criminals in the State “.
