DR. PROSPER-OHAYAGHA ADMONISHES IMO NMA NOT TO RELENT IN MAINTAINING HARMONIOUS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE STATE GOVERNMENT.

By Bibian Okere

The Hon. Commissioner for Health (Primary Health, Social Services and Health Insurance), Dr. Prosper-Ohayagha Success has admonished the new leadership of the Imo State Chapter of Nigeria Medical Association not to relent in maintaining a harmonious relationship with the State Government.

The admonition was given when the State Executives of the Association paid him a courtesy visit. The Hon Commissioner enjoined the new leadership to ensure that the Association moves forward by giving all members a level playing ground. He further advised them on the need to also reach out to aggrieved members and carry them along in the scheme of things.

Dr. Prosper-Ohayagha while expressing his gratitude for the visit, pointed out that the NMA Imo Chapter has always in front during health emergencies and has always been his back bone.

The Hon. Commissioner called on medical doctors who have been foot-draging in matters of the Association to see the need start participating actively. And further called on the current leadership to think of having discussions on the current salary structure rather than the past ones.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Dr. Echeta Uzodinma thanked the Hon. Commissioner for ensuring a harmonious relationship between the Association and the State Government. He extolled the State Government under the leadership of Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodinma for the infrastructural development being witnessed in the health sector.

He however pleaded for such attention to also be shifted to the human capital development as the salary structure of Doctors and other health workers in the state. Dr. Echeta stated that some of their members now prefer to work for other state because of the disparity in the salary structure when compared with that of Imo State.

He assured of their readiness to help the Hon Commissioner succeed and to work with the Ministry whenever they are called upon.

The immediate past Chairman, Dr. Obiesi Chidi while presenting the new leadership to the Hon. Commissioner expressed optimism that the new Executives would continue enjoying the cordial working relationship existing between the Ministry and the Association.
