MINISTRY OF PRIMARY HEALTH: PRIMARY HEALTH, SOCIAL SERVICES AND HEALTH INSURANCE PRESS RELEASE IMO STATE GOVERNMENT COMES TO THE RESCUE OF MALNOURISHED CHILDREN IN MBAISE Following the news of the viral video about some malnourished children in Umueleagwa Onicha, Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government, the Governor, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma has come to the rescue of the children by providing food items and medical assistance to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Okezie Eze.Speaking, the Hon Commissioner for Health: Primary Health, Social Services and Health Insurance, Dr Prosper-Ohayagha Success stated that in response to the video that went viral on social media few back, on some malnourished children, the Governor, Dist Sen. Hope Uzodinma ensured that the issue is tackled immediately.Dr. Prosper-Ohayagha said that the visit was necessitated due to the fact that Governor Dist Sen Hope Uzodimma holds every Imo Child at high esteem hence the need to urgently visit the family to ascertain the health status of the children.The Hon Commissioner further informed that the state government has decided to take over the medical care of the family by enrolling the entire family into the Basic Health Care Provision Fund through the Imo State Health Insurance Agency to acces free and comprehensive care. He mandated the H.O.D Health of Ezinihitte Mbaise to ensure that the children are checked on weekly bases to ascertain the level of their improvement.While stating that there could similar cases within the communities, the Hon Commissioner informed that the Ministry of Health Primary Health Social Services and Health Insurance in conjunction with the Imo state Primary Health Care Development Agency surveylance unit would swing to action to find out cases of malnutrition within the communities in the rural areas.The Commissioner presented the family with some food items and cash from the Imo First Lady, Barr. Mrs Chioma Uzodimma.He admonished Mr. Okezie Eze to try and engage himself meaningfully so that he can be able to provide for his family. While commending the community for bringing the attention of the State Government to the life threatening issue.The Aladimma Umueleagwa Chairman, Nze Onuoha Chinedu applauded the Dist. Senator Hope Uzodimma led administration for responding swiftly to their calls for assistance to the family of their kins man. He prayed for God’s blessings upon the Governor and the Hon. Commissioner.Mr. Okezie Eze in the same vane, expressed his gratitude to the State Government for coming to his family’s aide.Accompanying the Hon. Commissioner were the Executive Secretary, Imo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Rev. Str. Maria Joaness Uzoma, the State Nutrition Officers and the LGA Primary Health Care Workers.
